Let new skills reflect in teaching

The Commissioner, Lagos State Ministry of Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, has urged teachers in the state to always translate new learning into teaching and classroom activities.

Adefisayo, who spoke at the unveiling of the Casio Mathematics and Science Training Centre located at the  Education Resource Centre, Ojodu Berger, Lagos, explained that the lab would empower the teachers with skills needed for better teaching of Maths and other Science subjects saying  that teachers should ensure they passed on everything they would be taught into teaching.

The Casio Mathematics and Science Training Centre was donated to the Lagos State Ministry of Education, ERC, by SKLD Integrated Services in partnership with Casio.

“Everyone knows that mathematics is important. This is going to support their teaching and all the teachers in Lagos education districts will be trained here. I want to encourage out teachers to take it with seriousness and responsibility. We want them to translate their new learning in to the classroom while teaching.”

Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Education, Mrs Abosede  Adelaja also explained that it was another form of resource for teachers.

Managing Director of SKLD Integrated Services, Mrs Temilola Adepetun, said that saw the educational gaps between the public and private schools reason SKLD Integrated Services decided to give the Casio Lab as a Corporate Social Responsibility to ERC.

Deputy Managing Director, SKLD Integrated Services, Mr Tayo Osiyemi said, “CASIO Lab is equipped with cameras, projectors, calculators, tablets and computers and is planned to serve as a training centre for teachers as well as resource center for the Ministry of Education to create live video sessions on different subjects which would be recorded at the CASIO Lab for subsequent broadcasting to teachers and students.”
