Govt should make education easier for PLWDs

A lecturer in the Department of Special Needs and Rehabilitation Sciences at the Federal University of Lafia, Mary Umbugadu, has called on the government to provide a conducive learning environment for Persons Living with Disabilities.

According to her, the items that should be provided for PLWDs included wheelchairs, ramps in lecture halls and classrooms, television sets, internet accessibility, soundbox and other things that would help them to cope with studies.

Umbugadu said this in an interview with our correspondent during the 2021 Valentine Day celebration organised in Abuja by Kpakpando Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, for 70 women living with disabilities.

The Foundation which was established by a former Chairman of the Senate Committee on Gas, Osita Izunaso, believed in the ingenuity of PLWDs, working with them to acquire educational skills and resources necessary to build self-sufficient and purposeful life.
