Government urged to pay attention to arts and crafts in schools

Founder of Lady Craft Artworld, Miss Owamen Elizabeth, has urged government to provide schools with necessary materials needed for the development of arts and crafts in schools.

She lamented that the unavailability of these materials in schools is becoming a big problem that needs urgent government attention.

Speaking at the grand finale of the Craft Competition themed: “Discovering the creative you,” at Abule Egba, Lagos, Elizabeth said children need to be carefully studied to discover their passion, and invested in at their early age for them to have a better future.

In his remarks, learning difficulty expert and consultant, Thelma Igwe, implored parents to pay attention to their child’s art and skills, saying it will help them perform better in academics.

Lady Craft Art world is an organisation involved in teaching and cultivating arts and crafts culture in children.

The art event, which is the first event of its kind, was filled with parents, school headteachers, invited schools, sponsors and the children who all participated with enthusiasm.

The winner of the art competition was awarded 50 thousand naira while the 1st and 2nd runner up were awarded 30 thousand and 10 thousand naira respectively.
